Three of Grey High School’s most accomplished musicians have been selected to the 2017 SA National Youth Wind Orchestra. This year the Orchestra comes to Port Elizabeth, and their rehearsals begin in earnest on 30 June, under the baton of Port Elizabeth born, Old Grey scholar, David Scarr. Musicians pictured from left to right: Sashen Naidoo (Trumpet), Khayalethu Bashman (Trombone) and Robert Shellard (oboe).  Far left is Grey’s Director of Music, Shawn Lyon, who is also one of the Orchestra’s selectors and instructors. The Orchestra will perform in Grahamstown on 7 and 8 July, and in Port Elizabeth on 9 July.

Grey’s Preservation Society arranged to have a tree planted on Thursday to mark the start of Arbour Week. The “witstinkhout” tree was generously donated by Sherwood Garden Centre, and has been planted on Grey’s Gordon Field.
