Grade 12 Finals

Students are allowed into the examination hall 20 minutes before exams; 10 minutes will be allowed for reading over the question paper. No student will be admitted to the exam hall if he is more than 60 minutes late.

Time allowed for each exam will be clearly indicated.

No books or notes are allowed into the exam venue - only your timetable and ID book, necessary pens, pencils, erasers, calculator, ruler, together with your fully-equipped maths set - no borrowing is allowed at all. Only blue or black ink pens are permissible. Only non-programmable calculators are permitted.

No student shall assist another student, or be assisted by a fellow-student or any other person.

No talking once inside the exam hall. No inquiry about the examination questions will be answered by the invigilator. No teacher will be called to answer queries. Students are hereby assured that any problems will be sorted out at marking level. No student will be disadvantaged by an error in a paper.

Students will be required to initial the attendance register before writing each exam.

No student will be permitted to leave the venue in either the first hour or the last 15 minutes of any exam. It is in the student's interest, however, to remain in the exam venue until the end of each exam – thorough checking often reveals costly errors. Before leaving the venue, all answer books (whether used or unused) are to be handed in to the invigilators.

Students involving themselves in any irregular acts or actions place all their results of the entire examination in serious jeopardy such as possible cancellation. Such students also expose themselves to expulsion from the examination room as well as possible expulsion, for a period of time to be determined by the Director-General, from participation in any future examinations. Said irregular acts or actions include the following (amongst others):

unruly, threatening, aggressive or intimidatory behaviour.
misbehaviour which disturbs fellow-students and invigilators and consequently disrupts the examination;
interfering, for whatever reason, with fellow students or invigilators;
involvement in any/all possible forms of irregularities that students may involve themselves in which are contrary to the rules and regulations laid down by the Department to ensure that everybody is given the opportunity of writing fair, free and honest examinations;
disobedience of any instruction(s) of the invigilator.

The instructions of any invigilator are to be obeyed.

Toilet breaks during an exam are not permitted.

Normal standards regarding appearance apply. You may be excluded from the exam hall until such time as your appearance is satisfactory.

Normal, civilised standards of behaviour are to be maintained.

Cell-phones are not permitted in the exam venue, whether on your person or not. They will not be kept for you during the exam.
