Soon after the landing of the British Settlers in 1820, a small but flourishing settlement existed on the shores of Algoa Bay. Any form of organised education, however, was sadly lacking until the arrival of a Scottish graduate named John Paterson, who must be given most of the credit for establishing a small state-aided school in Chapel Street.

2014 Reunion Week

Our 158th Reunion Week was celebrated in great style as Old Greys from South Africa and around the globe returned to their school. The Old Grey Office, Old Grey EXCO and Grey staff are congratulated on their fantastic organisation and attention to detail. The Selley Concert staged in the Feathermarket Hall was world-class and thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. Congratulations to Mr Shawn Lyon, our Music Staff and musicians – take a well-deserved bow! ‘Half-a-thousand plus’ Old Greys attended the Old Grey Dinner on Thursday 22 May, and what a great evening it turned out to be! Congratulations to Mr Ian Pringle and his committees for the enormous amount of hard work that went into staging such a successful week.
